We got our hands on a 2017 Polaris Ranger XP 1000 EPS Northstar HVAC Edition upon their initial release, and wanted to make it something truly unique. When it came time to address the suspension, we decided to incorporate something not often seen in the off-road world…air ride!

For this setup, we hooked up with the folks at RideTech. They helped us put together a suspension system that was perfect for our build. With our Ranger turned TrailMaster hauling a DTV Shredder, a full 70 quart cooler, or our custom grill in the bed, along with all of the other heavy duty (and heavy weight) items installed on the unit, we needed a suspension set up that could handle the load while still providing a plush, comfortable ride.

The system is fully adjustable, meaning we can raise and lower each shock individually to our liking via the RidePro Digital Computerized Control System from either smart phone, wireless remote, or digital controller (pictured to the right) inside the cab. Being able to precisely adjust each shock to gain additional ground clearance, lower ride height to clear obstacles overheard, or accommodate off camber terrain, is simply fantastic. The ability to adjust the height is also essential when loading and unloading the bed or using the grill, as it makes those tasks much easier.

Not only is the height adjustable, so is the stiffness, allowing us to dial in the exact setting best suited for the terrain we're tackling. The shocks used are the HQ Series ShockWaves in both the front and rear (pictured to the left).

We have custom made twin 1.5 gallon stainless steel tanks hidden under the passenger’s side plastics taking care of the air reserves.

Feeding the system is an ARB performance compressor, also tucked away out of plain sight. Make sure you check out our shop builds and come back next week for our newest installment of the KJ Motorsports blog!
